Academic Help

If you are concerned about your child's grades, don't panic, but do take action immediately. Some suggestions for helping your child improve his/her grades are:

• Check Skyward Family Access. Stay updated on grades by checking Skyward often. Skyward Family Access is an online information tool that allows parents to view their child's updated grades, attendance, and discipline. Skyward can help you determine if your child has missing assignments, low classwork grades, low test grades, etc.  You can access Skyward Family Access by clicking here or by clicking on the Skyward link on the home page of the Siegel Middle School web page. Also, in addition to the report card at the end of the nine weeks, watch for the mid progress report that is uploaded to Skyward at the halfway point of each nine weeks

• • Schedule a conference with your child's teachers. They know better than anyone what is going on in the classroom. To schedule an appointment, call the lead teacher in your child's mini school.
  
  
  

• Require your child to make regular use of the agenda. All students should write every assignment in their agenda and bring it home daily for parents to see. Consider requiring your child to have his/her teachers initial the assignments each day for you to check.

• Help your child get and stay organized. Make sure he/she has a designated notebook for each class where he/she can put notes, classwork, homework, etc. Designate a spot for your child to put his/her completed homework for each class so it will be easy to find and ready to turn in.

• Utilize outside resources. Not everyone has the resources to hire a private tutor for his/her child, but everyone can utilize homework hotline. Homework hotline operates Monday - Thursday from 4:00pm-8:00pm. The number is 615-298-6636

**Before & After-school help at Siegel: Have your child talk with teachers to see what teachers stay after school for additional help. Teachers stay after school on certain days to provide these services. Some teachers are also at school early in the morning to provide students with extra help. Your child should talk with teachers to find out this information
